Review: Tarte’s ‘Be Your Own Tarteist’ Palette + Swatches

5 Sep

Hi lovelies!

After picking up the Poppy Picnic palette from Tarte a few weeks ago, I found myself stalking the QVC UK website in order to see whether any new Tarte goodies were coming their way, when I saw the Miracles from the Amazon giftset pop up. The set includes a few other products (watch out for reviews if I love them or hate them), but what really caught my eye was the ‘Be Your Own Tarteist’ palette.

IMG_3876It has the exact same layout as the Poppy Picnic palette, but isn’t quite all matte. It does have four matte shadows, and the blush is totally matte, but there are two shimmery shadows included.

The shades are t-b,l-r, Pink Beyond, Taupe For The Best, Dreams Plum True, Talented (blush), Out Of This Pearl, Thistle Be The Day and Paint The Brown.

Taupe For The Best and Out Of This Pearl both have a shimmery finish, but not glittery or frosty at all. They are firm to touch but still swatch beautifully in one swipe. I think the one weak point of this palette is the plum shade Dreams Plum True. The texture of the shadow is drier than the others, and Tarte’s mattes are really lovely, so it’s quite noticeable. I can definitely make it work as a liner, but I think it might be a little difficult to blend.

Once again, sucked in by the packaging, impressed by the actual product! Win win, right?
You can pick up this palette as part of a set on QVC UK for £34 (£38 inc. postage).

Hope you’re all having a wonderful day/night, wherever you are!

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’ – Review + Swatches

23 Aug

Hi lovelies!

Just a quick post today on a lippie I’ve been loving lately, Tarte’s Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’.

IMG_3826

It’s a gorgeous, ever so slightly shimmery coral colour, that is a shine finish and is one of the most buildable lip products I’ve ever tried.

IMG_3827

You get 0.1oz of product in the full size for $17, which comes to about £12.50 once you pop the exchange rate on.

This product looks pretty good with my slightly more tanned skin in comparison to my regular skin tone. It has a little bit of a tangerine feel to it, and so I think that paired with bronzer it looks gorge.

It lasts a good amount of time if you’re not eating, about five hours or so, but as soon as you eat it needs reapplication. The good thing is that you can just add more product instead of having to remove it all and reapply. It’s also dead minty. You can’t miss it!!!

This product is a part of the 2015 Give Me Some Lip Set, currently on Sephora’s website for $25.

That’s all for today, I hope you have a good day/evening, wherever you are!

Review: Tarte’s ‘Poppy Picnic’ Palette + Swatches

19 Aug

Hello lovelies!

Another day, another beauty post! Buuuut this time it’s something really exciting. IT’S TARTE!

As a UK based beauty blogger, Tarte is really pretty difficult to come by. About a year ago, QVC started to sell Tarte, but their product range is quite limited and varies from month to month as they sell out and get new stock, so you can’t quite rely on the website. Also, ordering from Sephora US poses a few challeneges as some items don’t ship and the tax and shipping costs come to almost £20 on any order.

So a few months ago, when I saw the Poppy Picnic palette pop up on QVC’s Beauty section, I literally jumped at the chance to get my mitts on it. It was on advanced orders, which basically means you’re in limbo until they’ve shipped out all the orders before you. After over a month of waiting, I finally got the email confirmation…it was on the way. *screams*

It’s pretty obvious why I wanted it.

*drools*

It has six shadow shades that all are matte, and one shimmery blush. And when I say shimmery, I mean glitterball shimmery. This is a summer or a night-time bush for me. It does make you glow though, and I’m partial to a coral cheek. 😉 I would say that it lasts a good amount longer than some other blush formulas I’ve tried, like Rimmel or Maybelline’s new Creme Puffs. It’s comparable to Nars blushes.

The swatches are absolutely representative of the quality of these shadows. They are PHENOM. Genuinely. I’d say the formula is a mix of Lorac shadows and maybe Estée Lauder shadows, or the benefit singles. If you’ve swatched a Lorac shadow, then you’ll know that they’re soft to the point of breaking apart when you tap them with a flat shader. This makes them gorgeous over the top of a silicone primer, or beautiful to blend, but when it comes to pigment, sometimes the matte shades can suffer.

The shadows in the palette are smooth and silky, but pack a good old pigment wallop, and they blend SO well. I was so chuffed when I realised that the beautiful flowery outside was just hiding a smooth, blendable shadowy centre.

So you can probably tell, it’s a thumbs up from me!

Have a lovely day/evening, wherever you are!
