YSL Palette City Drive in ‘Classy’

17 Jan

Hello lovelies!

Quick post on a product I picked up recently from Sephora here in France. The YSL Palette City Drive is a gorgeous quad of neutral shadows that can be used wet or dry, and was on sale in Sephora. It was originally €54 but was reduced to €27. I am not one to be able to resist a bargain!

I used the palette to create a smoky bronze look, perfect for going out for dinner, a bit too much for me during the day. I paired the eye with a peachy pink lip, using Bite Beauty’s Glacé High Pigment Pencil and a little bit of the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Heartbreaker.

Used dry, the lighter shade took a bit of building, but apart from that every colour was nicely pigmented and came across richly on the eye whilst blending nicely.

Unfortunately this product was a limited edition, but if I managed to find it, you definitely can! Check out Sephoras, CCOs or ask at your YSL counters whether they have any excess they didn’t sell.

Have a wonderful day!

Christie xoxo

My Big Move

8 Nov

Hello lovelies!

After a very long absence, I’m back. I’m definitely guilty of procrastinating…but 5 months?! I apologise! :O Not a lot has changed, apart from, you know, where I live. I moved to France! Eeeeep! For those of you who are unfamiliar with this little pet project of mine, I’m currently a university student at Royal Holloway, University of London – and studying French and Drama. Third years have to undertake a year abroad, and I’m spending mine in Bayonne, which is in the South-West of France. Firstly, it’s gorgeous. Seriously beautiful. But secondly…it’s terrifying. Oh my goodness, so so terrifying. Moving to university didn’t really phase me at all, I was so eager to get out of school that I jumped at the chance to be more independent, wherever it was. But after two years there, not only have I come to love my university setting, but also appreciate my hometown SO MUCH MORE. Has this happened to anyone else? Add a dash of homesickness to an overwhelming language change, and you get a pretty scary environment. However, after six weeks here, I can honestly say that I’m starting to feel at home. I’m working in two schools as a language assistant with kids aged 10-22 for twelve hours a week. I thought I’d share a few pictures of the area I live in – happy to report that there is a Sephora and plenty of French pharmacies around – watch out for a blog post on Sephora findings a little later in the month.

The view from my back window - not even kidding! Bayonne Cathedrale.

Excuse the blurriness, but this is me and Noa, a Spanish assistant from a town about an hour from Bayonne. We went to dinner with two other assistants in a little creperie about a minute's walk from my apartment.

And this one. The cathedral again. I could have spent all day here, just reading.

So there we go. A few life updates since July – I finished work at Legoland after a really long summer that was challenging and incredibly fun. I’m definitely going to be heading back there at the beginning of fourth year, there’s nothing quite like it.
I also turned twenty! Eeeeep. Twenty is a weird age. I definitely feel like I’m in adult-limbo. Someone told me I was in my twenties the other day and I nearly shouted ‘NO I’M NOT’ at them before realising that it’s true. Ergh.
I also bought my first bottle of Bioderma. Big changes guys, big changes.

So, please tell me what you’ve been loving, life updates, and what you want to see from me on the blog.

I feel like this blog can legitimately be called BonjourChristie now. I’ve got some kind of pseudo-French credibility.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day or evening, wherever you are!

Sephora’s ‘Give Me Some Lip’ Kit + Wet & Wild Palettes

2 Oct

Hello lovelies!

In case you were wondering, no I didn’t go on a sneaky trip to the US in order to be let loose in a Sephora. One of my best friends Kent lives in NJ but studies at Royal Holloway. I asked her to pick up a few things for me and she brought it back and then gave it all to me as a birthday gift! WOWEE! (Thankyou Kent!)

The first thing that she picked up was from Sephora and it’s called the ‘Give Me Some Lip’ Sampler Kit. Most of these brands can be accessed in the UK, but for 5 deluxe minis and one full-size lip product for $25, there isn’t a comparable deal. 😦
I’ll pop in some pictures so you can see what the products are. At the moment my favourite is the Laura Mercier Lip Gloss, but it changes nearly every day!

ImageImageImageImageImageImageEeeeep! A lot of those shade have ‘cult’ status among beauty bloggers, and from first impressions, I can see why. The only one I have used more than twice is the Tarte LipSurgence, just because it’s very ‘glitzy’ as the name suggests, and I haven’t been out on the toen lately (hahahahaha). That Laura Mercier one is like silk, honestly….sorry bank balance.

I also asked Kent to see whether she could find the Wet & Wild Comfort Zone palette, and she found it and picked up The Silent Treatment trio too!

ImageAaaand a little quick swatch too.

ImageOh! I almost forgot that I got a new EOS Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet. And everyone get ready to laugh as I show you the photo…

ImageYou see the things us bloggers have to deal with on a day to day basis?!?! I’m so annoyed with myself right now!

Oh well! Lectures are now back in full swing, and after a French Grammar Lecture today that I kind of struggled in to say the least, I’m determined to get better at my subject this year!

Also, I’ve been obsessed with Lorde recently. She’s set to be the next big thing in the US, and it won’t be long before the UK catches on. Tennis Court is amazing if you’re into electro-indie-relaxed music. She’s also only sixteen!

Have a lovely day/evening, wherever you are!
