Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’ – Review + Swatches

23 Aug

Hi lovelies!

Just a quick post today on a lippie I’ve been loving lately, Tarte’s Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’.

It’s a gorgeous, ever so slightly shimmery coral colour, that is a shine finish and is one of the most buildable lip products I’ve ever tried.

You get 0.1oz of product in the full size for $17, which comes to about £12.50 once you pop the exchange rate on.

IMG_3828My lips after applying the lipstick.

This product looks pretty good with my slightly more tanned skin in comparison to my regular skin tone. It has a little bit of a tangerine feel to it, and so I think that paired with bronzer it looks gorge.

It lasts a good amount of time if you’re not eating, about five hours or so, but as soon as you eat it needs reapplication. The good thing is that you can just add more product instead of having to remove it all and reapply. It’s also dead minty. You can’t miss it!!!

This product is a part of the 2015 Give Me Some Lip Set, currently on Sephora’s website for $25.

That’s all for today, I hope you have a good day/evening, wherever you are!

MAC Attack: Lipsticks in ‘Diva’ and ‘Coral Bliss’ + Swatches

25 Apr

Hello lovelies!

Back with a super speedy post for you today about my first two MAC lipsticks! I purchased these a little while ago when Debenhams were offering a bag of freebies and free delivery on all orders over £20. They do that quite a bit, and I cave EVERY time.

FOTD: It’s All About Bronze

19 Feb

Hello lovelies!

Thought I’d share an FOTD with you today. I just recently purchased ‘All The Faves’, a bareMinerals kit on ASOS’ big beauty sale (out of stock now boohoo 😦 ). It came with 8 deluxe sample sizes of some of bareMinerals’ most loved products, hence the name. The eyeshadows that came with it literally have blown me away. They’re what’s missing from my ab fab Stila ‘In The Light’ palette. I saw Anna’s post on the new Nars Eyeshadow palette, and was inspired to create a smoky bronze look myself.

Heard some mixed reviews about that Narsissist Palette, anyone tried it out?

The duo is called ‘The Epiphany’ and has one golden bronze shade with shimmer, and another completely matte dark chocolate brown.

I paired it with my Maybelline The Nudes Lipstick in Tantalizing Taupe, which I just got in my February GlossyBox. Can’t believe that was my last one! I still have 2 boxes to redeem with my credits, but still! 😦

I went back to work today after six weeks off while they sort the park out for the new year. New rides and new challenges! Exciting!

Hope you all have a wonderful day/evening, wherever you are!

Revlon Matte and Lacquer Balms + Swatches!

8 Feb

Hello lovelies!

A little post on the new Revlon Balms. They’ve just recently launched in the UK, and there’s a huge selection of lovely shades. I picked up a couple of matte ones, but only one of the lacquers caught my eye. A lot of the lacquer balms had tons of glitter in them, and that just isn’t something that I look for.

ImageI picked up Standout (250, matte burgundy), Elusive (205, matte pink) and Vivacious (120, lacquer pink).

Standout is a warm toned deep red, it has a minty scent that is similar to the original Revlon Balm Stains, but definitely toned down.
ImageElusive is a dusky matte pink that is relatively natural on the lips. It’s smooth to apply, just like the darker colour. It also has a minty scent, but it seems a little more opaque than the darker colour. The matte formula balms are relatively long wearing, with the darker colour wearing off nicely after about 6 hours.

Vivacious is a hot pink that is super shiny. The shine definitely dims the longer you wear it, with the formula turning to more of a creamy finish. It’s pretty long wearing, I can get up to four hours without having to touch up, which is awesome for a product with shine.

So, I’ve resigned myself to buying about thirty more of these until my collection is complete. I give them a solid 4/5, the only thing that could improve them would be if the lacquer range had less glitter in them. And if they smelled like marshmallows or fruit instead of mint. But that’s personal preference.

Are you guys gonna go out and grab these while they’re hot? Or have you already taken the plunge and picked up a couple? Let me know what you guys think in the comments! 🙂

Have a lovely day or evening, wherever you are!

FOTD: Birthday Edition

4 Sep

Hello lovelies!

Quick FOTD for you. The 31st of August was my 19th birthday, and the night before I went out with my friends (before I felt so poorly that I left at 10.30) and decided to go glam on the make-up. To some this probably is everyday wear, but the sparkle made me feel all pretty!

I used my Stila ‘In the Light’ Palette and my Topshop Lipstick in ‘Whimsical’.

August Faves and My Life In Pictures coming up!

HAUL: Birthday Buys feat. YSL, Topshop and The Body Shop!

30 Aug

Hello lovelies!
ImageDefinitely splurged and treated myself in Windsor with my friend Jess a few days ago.

ImagePink Grapefruit Body Puree | £2
Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub | £12.50
Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel | £2

all available at The Body Shop.

Big love for The Body Shop at the moment, as they just do summer scents right. I love the mix of sweet and sour that the Pink Grapefruit scent provides me, and I already own the body butter, so these guys are more to add to my collection! As it’s my birthday month, I got £5 off my purchase, and it was 3 for 2 on all products, so I got all of this for £9.50! Successful bargain!

ImageClean and Clear Blackhead Cleanser | £3.50

available at Boots and Superdrug.

I have the regular cleanser and wanted to try this out as the scent is a little less…overwhelming and I’ve been noticing tat the other cleanser doesn’t seem to have many skin benefits. Let’s see how this goes!

ImageImageTopshop Matte Lipstick in Whimsical | £8

available at Topshop.

Been looking for a cooler-toned coral for a little while so that I can work it into the autumn months without looking like I’m lusting for summer. I love it whenever I find a Topshop with makeup and had to make the difficult decision between a lipstick and a blush for a while. The lipstick won. How beautiful is that?

ImageImageYSL Glossy Stain in No.27 | from £22.50

available at YSL counters.

Eeep! I splashed out on another YSL product. I think I will only spend money on something that I can keep forever and that is worth the cash. Ever since I first ventured into the world of YSL, I’ve wanted a Glossy Stain. When I first bought my Volupte Sheer Candy, the assistant desperately tried to sell me this, even though the Sheer Candy was more money. I picked this up because it’s my ‘comfortable colour’. I’ll get a lot of use out of it and it’s JUST SO PRETTY. If anyone would like to buy me the whole line for my birthday, feel free.

So, there’s my little haul! I’m really looking forward to a lovely relaxing birthday tomorrow, and to going out with my friends for a bit tonight. Hope you’re all having a lovely day or evening!

May Beauty Favourites

3 Jun

Hello lovelies! Got some favourites to share with you.
ImageFirst up is The Righteous Butter from Soap & Glory. I need all the moisture I can get now that I work outside. This smells divine and the scent lingers, does the job and makes me feel less dry.
ImageThen I have something that I haven’t shared with you yet, my Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in ‘Tiramisu Shimmer’. It was a freebie with a recent purchase, but it’s absolutely gorgeous and is a great colour to wear when you have a natural makeup work code. It feels lovely on your lips, and I think I’ve worn it every day since I got it.

I am a serious make-up thief when it comes to my sister’s collection. She never uses her make-up, and I think that’s a waste. So I whipped this one out of her make-up bag. She hasn’t noticed yet, and I’ll buy her a new one when she does! It’s the Rimmel Glam Eyes Trio in Orion. I use the brown mixed with the white for a brow powder. I don’t dye my brows, but I do dye my hair. It’s difficult to pull off lighter brows with darker hair, although the opposite combination seems to be very popular. This powder gives the perfect amount of colour and lasts. It’s a great eyeshadow palette too.

ImageImageAs I mentioned, I work outside, and I found in the first few weeks that my lips were feeling SO dry. I started off with some Carmex, but it felt a little slick for constant talking. This Nivea Lip Balm has been a big hit in my books. I also have the blue classic version, and a pearly shine one, but this gives me a little colour also, which I like. It’s the Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm.

ImageI’ve also been loving my Real Techniques Blush Brush this month, as it has about three hundred different uses and cleans so easily. I’ve used it for bronzer, blush, face powder and highlight all in one week! Crazy!
ImageImageBeen loving scented things for summer, and so I whacked out my Pink Grapefruit Neutrogena Moisturiser once I ran out of the unscented version. It smells lovely in the mornings and is sinks in nice and quickly. A big hit on the days where you’re in a rush!
ImageThen I have Stay Don’t Stray, which is a concealer/primer from Benefit. Benefit’s my favourite high-end make-up brand, and I literally love this so much that I might have to splash out on the full size. £23.50 eeep! One of those products that you use and just forget about because it’s not very interesting, but it’s definitely an essential. Especially for me, as I have really discoloured, veiny eyelids.
ImageNext up is a shampoo/conditioner combo. I’ve not really spoken about this on here before, but I suffer from something called psoriasis, which is a stress condition that can cause the areas of skin to flake. It’s hereditary, my Mum has it too, but I she has it nearer her neck and I get it on the top of my head. Not great when you have dark hair! Most shampoos just irritate it more, and when my Mum picked the Head and Shoulders Smooth and Silky range up earlier in the year and passed them to me, I thought that they would do the same thing. They have, in fact, really soothed my scalp, and they keep my hair nice and clean + they smell really lovely. I’ve just picked up the citrus ones, and hopefully they also work. I ❤ citrus scented body and hair products.
ImageSo there are my May Beauty Favourites! I would LOVE to know what you’ve been loving for the month of May, so leave me a comment telling me if you’d like! 🙂

FOTD: Coral Ambition!

26 Apr

Hello lovelies!

Hope you are all having/had a great Friday! It’s the weekend, wooo!

Quick FOTD for you! The UK have been having some kind of freak April heatwave, and it was actually 20C earlier this week! I decided to whack out the spring colours while I had the chance, and also I gave my lower lashes a break. I always think it makes a nice change to do a look where you only use mascara on your upper lashes! 🙂

The lipstick is Topshop’s ‘Ohh La La’ and I put on a Stila Smudge Stick in ‘Stargazer’ on my lashline.

Hope you’re having some great weather too!

Have a wonderful weekend, I’m currently trying to start work on two essays for Uni that are due in on Monday and still get an early night, as I have a 6.30 start tomorrow :S Wish me luck!

Christie xoxo

21 Oct

WELL WELL WELL. Look at this snazzy new look.

So, as I mentioned in the last post, it was my birthday while I was away. And I actually received money from my Dad and my Nan also, so I went on a bit of a shopping spree with one of my best friends, Beth. We went to our local ‘big’ shopping centre, had Pinkberry which was lush, got very stuck in huge amounts of traffic on the way back and spent too much money, as usual. Seeing as I’ve had these products for just over a month now, each will have a little mini-review in the caption for you 🙂 Here is a list and a few pictures of a few of the things I bought!

Sally Hansen’s ‘Double Duty’ Base and Top Coat. Good for a clean, crisp finish. Can’t say I’ve seen huge benefits in using it as a base coat, but it’s a gorgeous top coat and much less expensive than some top coats that do similar things. A solid 3/5.

MUA’s ‘Heaven and Earth’ Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette. £4 at Superdrug. Great colours and even better price! It’s supposed to be a high street answer to one of the infamous Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I mean, I’m impressed. The packaging’s relatively sturdy with no frills and I think you get a good deal for so many well pigmented colours. Another good 3/5…because it’s just not the same.

Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ Mascara- Full Size and a Deluxe Mini for £18.50. The most expensive make-up product I have EVER bought. But, this was my birthday present to myself. 🙂 I’m also glad that I picked it up when I did, because you got the free little mini size included. And that deal’s now over. 😦 I’ve gotta say, it is probably the best mascara I have tried. It lasts forever. Having said that, I haven’t tried many mascaras, and some of the high street alternatives that I have tried have come relatively close. I definitely don’t regret buying this, but do consider how pricy it is before you splurge on an item that you might not love to pieces. I have really very uneven eyelashes, and by that I mean that my right eyelashes are much fuller naturally than my left ones. So I like a mascara that can really separate what I have of my left eyelashes… this nearly does it. Another good 3, maybe 3.5/5. Because it’s Benefit.

Lush’s ‘You Snap The Whip’ Body Butter. Oh my goodness. I have never loved the smell of something so much. We actually spent over an hour in Lush. Blame the over-attentive sales assistant. Om nom nom this smells like blackcurrants through and through. It lingers for just long enough on your skin, and I’m desperately trying to savour what I have left of it. It wasn’t expensive either. Go and check out the smell in your local Lush. It’s worth it. 5/5.

Lush’s ‘Creamy Candy’ Bubble Bar. This was actually a gift to my sister. I hope she likes it because I think it smells ‘lush’. Aha. Get it? Is very lovely all around in the smell department, but I can’t tell you what I think of its actual function. I’m sorry! Maybe a guest post from my sister lol…

The Real Techniques ‘Core Collection’ brush kit. Ouch, these were expensive. I justified the amount I spent in Boots that day by telling myself that I’d get loads of Boots Points. Hurrah! You get four brushes for around £21/£22. I’m not going to lie, they’re worth it and I really want more. But the thing is, they are so expensive. I just think that if you invest in anything in the beauty world, make-up brushes are the most important things. You can have an amazingly expensive high-end Chanel foundation, but without the right brush, it’s not going to be worth the money you spend.A good 4/5, and I’m only knocking off a point because they’re so expensive.

The Real Techniques ‘Blush Brush’. This was SO SOFT. It still is. I use it as more of a powder brush though. It’s much less dense than blush brushes I’ve had in the past, but it’s definitely a much higher quality. This was actually around the £10 mark when I first looked at it, but I took advantage of a ‘buy one, get one half price’ deal that was on these brushes, so it was around £5 in the end. I actually use it for powder sometimes, but it’s very versatile, and I tested it against by old Barry M powder brush and the Barry M brush felt like it was scraping against my skin after using this bad boy. Another 4/5 though, because I still resent paying £26 on make-up brushes.

Topshop’s Lipstick in ‘Ohh La La’. A pastelish coral. This is (I think) an almost matte finish lipstick. I received a Topshop giftcard for my birthday and seeing as I’m not interested in their clothing, I treated myself to two make-up items, as Topshop’s line of make-up has been gathering gusto recently in the beauty community and I wanted to see whether their products lived up to the hype. Review to come shortly, but spoiler alert. Big fan. 4/5.

Topshop’s Cheek Duo in ‘Desert Sun’. A blusher and bronzer separately that when you mix together, can be used as a highlighter? Okay. I was intrigued. A nice 3/5. Review coming up.

I always go back to Simple’s face wipes! 5/5, nice an gentle on the skin and take off more make-up at the £2 mark than the £7 No7 ones do.

A cheeky picture of my friend Beth with a choccie milkshake. The best milkshakes ever are served at ‘Ed’s Diner’. There’s a few dotted about the country, so if you see one, run to a table.

The damage we did in 6 hours. Oh dear. Our purses were much lighter.

Pinkberry! I had Mango and Chocolate with chocolate bits and bobs, strawberries and pineapple. Beth had Watermelon with healthy things. Silly billy.

SO, there we go. That wasn’t too bad at all. I’ve got loads of posts planned, so hopefully I can get them up and running ASAP.
Don’t forget to smile,
Christie xoxo 🙂

The busiest few weeks!

18 Mar

I am well aware that I have not blogged in FOREVER. However, some developments in my life have occurred. Well, just two really, but still.

1. I got an iPhone.
2. I passed my driving test.

Therefore, I have been addicted to my iPhone, and have been driving my little car around, and I just have completely neglected the internet in order to focus on my life! Weird, I know! BUT… I have lots of ideas for blogs, because my delayed blogging has inspired more ideas apparently!

In the meantime, I do have a few ‘favourites’ to share with you for this month.

Favourite Beauty Product:
Okay, it has to be one of my new purchases (reviews soon!)
Either Avon’s Color Trend Kiss ‘n’ Go Lipstick in Winter Wine or Avon’s Arabian Glow Bronzing Pearls. Both of these products were inexpensive, and I adore them already, after only a few weeks of using them!

Favourite Book: THE HUNGER GAMES! I read this over the summer after my Mum bought it for me, but recently, all of my friends have borrowed the books and have been frantically reading before the film comes out. Suzanne Collins has come up with a story to stand the test of time. It’s truly excellent reading, and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

Favourite Hair Product:
It has to be the Percy and Reed of London Finishing Polish. I actually got this as my free gift with this month’s Glamour magazine (if you don’t read it, then check it out, it’s only £2 and you get a gorgeous gift and usually some free samples with some beautiful photo shoots and style ideas). I have very frizzy, curly/wavy hair that dries out quickly, and I’m always looking for something that means I can wear my hair naturally and have it look reasonable, as I really don’t have the time in the mornings to curl or straighten my hair! This did the trick, and is a nice product to use. It is scented, but that doesn’t bother me, as my shampoo and conditioner are strong-smelling and overpower it easily.

Favourite Blog: Okay, so my friend Katie (kates24) has a blog on wordpress, she write beautifully and is incredibly articulate. For anyone who fancies a peek at her outlook on life, check out her blog. She’s so funny, and makes A LOT of sense  A LOT of the time.

Favourite Film: Very very recently, I watched The Notebook again with my friend Jodie. It breaks my heart every single time I see it, and I fall in love with it over and over again! Despite my recommendations, my sister refuses to stop watching High School Musical 2. On the last count I did, she’d watched it 7 times within 4 days. Crazy girl.

Favourite Song: I’ve been loving Florence + The Machine’s song Landscape this month. Take a listen here,(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9DtY0ktT1U) one of my fellow Tumblr Dair shippers made a playlist and this has to be my favourite song of theirs.

Favourite Youtube Channel: It has to be Rachel (http://www.youtube.com/user/icallitambrosia) or Meghan (http://www.youtube.com/user/meghanrosette). I don’t know about you, but I detest watching boring beauty videos on YouTube, so these girls are amazing for me. Despite both of them being absolutely hilarious, they do actually know what they are talking about. If you love hauls, check out Meghan, because I don’t know how she does it, but she shops A LOT, and if tutorials and rants (teehee) are more your thing, then Rachel’s channel is the place for you.

Favourite Artist: Definitely been loving The Script this month. If you don’t know who they are, check out my favourite songs, This= Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gxjfjj8r98) and The End Where I Begin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dflJL5Zb4ao) although, all of their songs are beautiful.

Human Favourite: It has to be my sister! She’s around four years younger than me, and is nearly fourteen, so I feel very old and the age gap is substantial, so we fight a lot. However, this month she has been the sweetest angelic sister ever! Is there some sort of award that I can give her? 😀

Favourite Food: The new Cadbury Dairy Milk Bubbly is to die for! At the moment in the UK, the bars have been on mass offer for £1 pretty much everywhere, and they’ve quickly become my favourite treat!

Favourite App: Either Instagram or Temple Run. Temple Run is incredibly addictive and Instagram makes me feel like my photos are cool and…well, cool. If you like, you can follow me at christieannturner. 🙂

Favourite Random: My car! 😀 I have a little Corsa, and it’s silver and adorable. It’s my baby, and I haven’t been able to get enough of it!

Favourite Photo: Recently, my Dad dug out a box of baby photos of me, and here’s my favourite from the bunch.

I hope you all have a lovely relaxing Sunday evening, and remember, don’t forget to smile! 🙂
