Glow For It

25 Jun

Hello lovelies!

Summer’s now in full swing in the UK, we see a smidgen of sunshine and everyone whips their legs out and slaps on the SPF. I’ve been obsessed with the ‘lit from within’ look recently and thought I would share my favourite products for the job.

Estée Lauder Blush in ‘Witty Peach’ – £25 at boots.com

This blush is the perfect peach for a pop of colour. Just subtle enough that it doesn’t give you awkward sun-tan cheeks and just pigmented enough so that it leaves a beautiful tint on the apples. I like to start really far up and out on my cheeks because I have a little chubby face, but everyone is different. I’ve heard it’s best to start at least two finger widths away from your nose and that that’s a good estimation. This blush is matte, but the lighter apricot colour gives it a glowing finish.

Image
The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder – £13 at thebodyshop.co.uk

This bronzer is universally flattering. I mean it. I always think that uber-pigmented bronzers have no place on my skin. Even if I blend perfectly, I always end up looking like a muddy mess. This formula is silky smooth, easy to buff out and it’s not too OOT. Do people still say that? OOT? Oh well. Just did. This is one of the only products that i can use on my temples as well due to it not being too intense.

Image
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – £16 at feelunique.com

Well, well, well. This little baby is finally mine. I actually put this in a wish-list this time a year ago, and finally made an order on Feel Unique. Believe the hype, this champagne-hued highlight is seriously amazeballs. I tried it for the first time a week ago and have worn it every day since. A teeny-tiny bit of this goes a loooooooonnnggg way, and your skin looks so healthy after you use it. For oily-skinned gals, I would warn you to use a light hand, as I know it can be difficult to balance between luminous goddess and disco ball, but us dry-skinned ladies need all the glow we can get. Am I right ladies? (I’ve always wanted to type that, it didn’t disappoint haha)

So there we go. My little formula that results in a lotta H2Glow. Oh yeah.

I hope you are enjoying your day/evening, wherever you are!

October Favourites + Swatches

10 Nov

Hello lovelies!

Today I’ve got a bunch of products to show you, plus swatches and a little bit of a daring FOTD for me. Stay tuned for that…

DSCN2288

DSCN2289

Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in ‘Lace’ – £10

I finally put this palette to use – I love the shade ‘Chantilly’, a gorgeous matte hot coral. Wow wow wow. You have to be careful with these blushes, as they’re so pigmented. This blush palette is going to last me forever. It’s great value and quality. Can’t wait to check out the other Blush By 3 palettes.

DSCN2293

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Mattifying Powder – £12
This stuff has been so so good to me (you can probably tell from the major pan that you’re seeing) – but during October it just shone as a holy grail product. Living without this just doesn’t seem plausible to me, could I possibly go on if I lost it?! Who can tell? It’s totally translucent, works on loadsa skin colours and types, and is affordable. Run to Boots. Run.

DSCN2303

BareMinerals The Next Big Thing Palette (LE) – £29

I first spotted this on Temptalia around six months ago, promptly fell in love and then discovered it was limited edition! I searched high and low for it, including on the Bare Minerals website, and than randomly stumbled across it in the Debenhams sale. I’m pretty sure it was 13.50, which is incredible for a palette of this quality, and the brand’s reputable image only helped me to snap it up. The colours are never usually what I would wear on my lids, but that coral drew me in and ever since, I’ve been falling further and further in love. The gold-y shades are beautifully pigmented, the coral is so so unique on the eyes, and the blackened plum makes a gorgeous liner. I must have used shades from this palette at least ten times during October, and for me, that’s pretty good.

DSCN2306Benefit Posietint – full size £24.50

Just a long-time fave of mine, it’s on my Christmas list and this little deluxe sample has lasted me forever. I love it on my lips the most, but it gives a gorgeous flush to the cheeks too.

DSCN2309ModelCo More Brows in Medium/Dark – £10

This is an exact dupe for Gimme Brow except that it doesn’t get all gross after a couple of uses. It distributes product nice and evenly along the brow and is inexpensive in comparison to the Benefit version. Big ole thumbs up from me!

DSCN2311Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush On Glow BB Highlighter – £23.50
I purchased this on a bit of a whim, and I’m so glad I did. Not only is it a great mutipurpose concealer/corrector/highlighter, but I’ve honestly used it since April EVERY single day (minus lazy days) and it’s still going strong. This is the never-ending product. It’s glowy, long lasting and although it’s a little pricy, I think it’s well worth it.

DSCN2314

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 01 – full size £18
The smell of this product is incredible, I just can’t get over it. I heard the hype, I listened, I put it off. Then I saw a little value set in Sephora with a mini for a minimal price. I jumped at the chance. These are so so comfortable, this colour is flattering and the line is well worth the hype.

DSCN2321DSCN2336Aaaaand that’s all of that stuff on my face. With a coral and icy gold eye. Eeeeep.

So those were my October favourites. Is there anything you’ve been loving lately? Please let me know in the comments and fuel my addiction.

Have a great day/evening, wherever you are!

FOTD: Forward Pink-ing

19 Oct

Hello lovelies!

Long time no speak! I’ve been crazy busy at university and work, and I really have missed this little blog, even though it’s only been two week. A quick FOTD for you today while I get things up and running again. I’ve been loving bright lips lately, and I never thought I would. Managed to pick up a few Clinique products today (shhhh!) and can right home at lunchtime and applied the freebie(!!!) that I got for Debenhams BonusTime. I’ll explain some of the other things I got in an upcoming haul, but head to my Instagram for a sneaky-peek! I’m very low-maintenance these days…let’s see how long that lasts!

As always, messy hair, don’t care.

Face: No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser in ‘Light’
Estée Lauder Pure Color Blush in ‘Witty Peach’

Eyes: Maybelline ‘The Rocket Waterproof’

Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in ‘Plushest Punch’

After trying this lip product, I’m gonna be racing back for more. WHY DID I NOT TRY THEM BEFORE?!

Tomorrow I’m off to work for a full day of Halloween fun. Oh, and good news! My contract was extended until January, so happy days for me. Most people finish at the end of the season, which is the 4th of November, but I applied for Christiemas (Freudian slip?) work, and I got it! Can’t wait for the holiday season. We all need a bit of joy this time of year.

Have a wonderful rest of your day or night, wherever you are…and tell someone that thee look beautiful today, it might be just what they need!

May Beauty Favourites

3 Jun

Hello lovelies! Got some favourites to share with you.
ImageFirst up is The Righteous Butter from Soap & Glory. I need all the moisture I can get now that I work outside. This smells divine and the scent lingers, does the job and makes me feel less dry.
ImageThen I have something that I haven’t shared with you yet, my Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in ‘Tiramisu Shimmer’. It was a freebie with a recent purchase, but it’s absolutely gorgeous and is a great colour to wear when you have a natural makeup work code. It feels lovely on your lips, and I think I’ve worn it every day since I got it.
ImageImageImage

I am a serious make-up thief when it comes to my sister’s collection. She never uses her make-up, and I think that’s a waste. So I whipped this one out of her make-up bag. She hasn’t noticed yet, and I’ll buy her a new one when she does! It’s the Rimmel Glam Eyes Trio in Orion. I use the brown mixed with the white for a brow powder. I don’t dye my brows, but I do dye my hair. It’s difficult to pull off lighter brows with darker hair, although the opposite combination seems to be very popular. This powder gives the perfect amount of colour and lasts. It’s a great eyeshadow palette too.

ImageImageAs I mentioned, I work outside, and I found in the first few weeks that my lips were feeling SO dry. I started off with some Carmex, but it felt a little slick for constant talking. This Nivea Lip Balm has been a big hit in my books. I also have the blue classic version, and a pearly shine one, but this gives me a little colour also, which I like. It’s the Nivea Soft Rose Lip Balm.

ImageI’ve also been loving my Real Techniques Blush Brush this month, as it has about three hundred different uses and cleans so easily. I’ve used it for bronzer, blush, face powder and highlight all in one week! Crazy!
ImageImageBeen loving scented things for summer, and so I whacked out my Pink Grapefruit Neutrogena Moisturiser once I ran out of the unscented version. It smells lovely in the mornings and is sinks in nice and quickly. A big hit on the days where you’re in a rush!
ImageThen I have Stay Don’t Stray, which is a concealer/primer from Benefit. Benefit’s my favourite high-end make-up brand, and I literally love this so much that I might have to splash out on the full size. £23.50 eeep! One of those products that you use and just forget about because it’s not very interesting, but it’s definitely an essential. Especially for me, as I have really discoloured, veiny eyelids.
ImageNext up is a shampoo/conditioner combo. I’ve not really spoken about this on here before, but I suffer from something called psoriasis, which is a stress condition that can cause the areas of skin to flake. It’s hereditary, my Mum has it too, but I she has it nearer her neck and I get it on the top of my head. Not great when you have dark hair! Most shampoos just irritate it more, and when my Mum picked the Head and Shoulders Smooth and Silky range up earlier in the year and passed them to me, I thought that they would do the same thing. They have, in fact, really soothed my scalp, and they keep my hair nice and clean + they smell really lovely. I’ve just picked up the citrus ones, and hopefully they also work. I ❤ citrus scented body and hair products.
ImageSo there are my May Beauty Favourites! I would LOVE to know what you’ve been loving for the month of May, so leave me a comment telling me if you’d like! 🙂

Lust Haves – Summer 2013

21 May
Lust Haves- Summer 2013
Hello lovelies!

I’m planning on a little shopping trip relatively soon, and have been lusting over a few items for a while. Summer’s on its way (I refuse to believe that it isn’t, UK!) and so everyon’es prepping themselves and their skin for long, hazy days in the sun and warm evenings with nothing on the agenda but relaxing!

1. YSL’s Touche Eclat Foundation
If you’ve read my blog before, you might have seen that I posted about the YSL’s counterpart foundation to their best-selling product of all time, the Touche Eclat concealer/eye-brightener. I’m actually still going through my diddy sample, which makes me very optimistic for the full size of the foundation! The Touche Eclat Foundation comes in 16 shades and is priced at £29 on the Boots website.

2. MAC’s 217 Blending Brush
As a beauty blogger and a cosmetics addict, I haven’t avoided the hype about this brush. Everyone and their mothers seem to own them, but I think I resent paying that much for one brush. I am usually perfectly content with my Real Techniques brushes, but having recently purchased their eye set, there isn’t really a brush that can give me what I want in terms of blending. I have a great No.7 brush that I bought about a year ago for £2.50 with a famous £5 off voucher in Boots, but I use it too much and want to see whether it is comparable to the famous 217. The 217 blending brush is priced at £17 in MAC stores and on their website.

3.  Clinique’s Chubby Sticks
I just want all of them! I’m in love with my Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Sticks (mentioned here), and again want to see what the hype is about. I think a sheer, easy sweep of colour that’s moisturising is great for summer and is also really low-maintenance. No fuss! You can buy Clinique’s Chubby Sticks for £16 at Clinique counters, their website or the Boots website.

4. Soap and Glory’s Glow Job Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion
Oh, Soap and Glory. You come up with the BEST names for your products. A bit cheeky, and the products are always incredible. I have not taken a trip into the wonderful facial skincare selection from S&G yet, but I have some make-up items, and would recommend them all. I figured that this lotion would be a good place to start, as it gives an all over glow to the face and is also beneficial for the skin. You can buy Glow Job for £9 on the Boots website or in Boots stores.

5. Estee Lauder’s DoubleWear Light Foundation
Light coverage? Check. Long-wearing? Check. Good skin tone match? Check.
I’ve heard so many good things about the original DoubleWear Foundation, but I’ve also heard that it’s heavy coverage. I’m just not a fan of that kind of foundation, even though I’m sure it’s perfect for some. I mix most of my foundations with moisturisers anyway, so it would be a waste to buy a foundation I wouldn’t like. The Light version seems to tick all the boxes for me. However, I really can’t justify buying TWO high-end foundations that are essentially very similar when I just bought the Nearly Naked from Revlon and the True Match from Rimmel. I’ve got tons to be getting on with! I think it will have to be a spur of the moment decision once I’m in the shop! You can buy Estee Lauder’s DoubleWear Light Foundation for £27.50 from Estee Lauder counters or on the Boots website.

What’s on your Lust-Haves list? And what do you think will make it onto your ‘Must-Haves list’? Any recommendations for me? I would love to know some of your favourite make-up products or techniques for the warmer months!

Christie xoxo
