Hello lovelies!

It’s my birthday! On this day, 21 years ago, little old me came along.

20 has been a good year for me. I moved to a different country, discovering things I never knew about myself in the process, and I feel like I’m a pretty different person now to a year ago.

I’m going to try my best to get to 22, pass my exams, get a job and work hard to make other people feel good on a daily basis. But at this point, I’m just feeling a lot of pressure, cause Adele wrote one of the biggest selling albums of all time at this point in her life and I don’t think I’m there yet!

That’s me, in the pink swimming costume, looking longingly at the Dougal cake that my Mum is holding. Something that’s stuck, by the way (my Dad calls me Doodles to this day). I think this is my 8th birthday.

13 years later, not a lot has changed.

I still look at cake that way.

Hello August

6 Aug

Hi lovelies!

So. My summer job is complete.

*large sigh of relief*

For the past six weeks or so, I’ve been working at a summer language camp in Hertfordshire as an Activity Leader. I’ve never been so thankful for a job to be over and done with, let me tell you.

It’s been a rough few months for my family, but I’m determined to come out the other end of this bizarre first half of the year with a smile on my face and a determination to finish university and find a job that I love. Plus it’s my birthday month! Which means lots of friends and family round for our annual barbecue at the end of the month! 🙂

A few things that I’ve been loving lately…

The Line Up
These girls are phe-nom-e-nal. I’m blown away by the amount of talent they have, and the amount of effort they put into each one of their YouTube videos is astounding. I’m not a fan of style blogs, or even style videos really, but it’s a testament to them how eager I am to watch every new video when it’s released.

UnReal
If you’re a TV fan like I am, you’ll have heard about the summer show that has stolen the spotlight from True Detective and OINTB. UnReal is a scripted drama about the behind-the-scenes action of a reality dating show named ‘Everlasting’ – think ‘The Bachelor’ meets ‘The Newsroom’. Plus, the walk and talks are pretty spectacular and the eye candy ain’t bad either.

Pop Culture Happy Hour and Talking TV
Last year, when I came out of my binge-stupor after finishing the last episode of ‘Serial’ (true crime podcast about the murder of a young girl in 1999)  I was searching for something a little lighter. These two podcasts are the best of the bunch, IMO. Pop Culture Happy Hour is a round-table style podcast that revolves around what the participants are watching, reading and listening to. I immediately fell head over heels for the regulars on this – in particular Linda Holmes, Stephen Thompson and Glen Weldon, who have been at the table since the first taping over five years ago. Head back through their feed and you’ll definitely find an episode that is in your wheelhouse. And speaking of wheelhouses, mine is pretty much Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan. These guys know what they are talking about. Full stop. It’s structured simply as a conversation between Ryan McGee and Maureen ‘Mo’ Ryan (HuffPo), two critics who really know their stuff. Download a few episodes (and bear with the ‘down a well’ quality of Mo’s voice sometimes) and get ready to be televisionlightened.

So that’s it from me this time guys. Hopefully see you soon with a beauty post. (I’ve been shamelessly buying something every time I feel down in the dumps or need a pick-me-up.)

Hope you have an amazing day or night, wherever you are!

FOTD: Birthday Edition

4 Sep

Hello lovelies!

Quick FOTD for you. The 31st of August was my 19th birthday, and the night before I went out with my friends (before I felt so poorly that I left at 10.30) and decided to go glam on the make-up. To some this probably is everyday wear, but the sparkle made me feel all pretty!

I used my Stila ‘In the Light’ Palette and my Topshop Lipstick in ‘Whimsical’.

HAUL: Birthday Buys feat. YSL, Topshop and The Body Shop!

30 Aug

Hello lovelies!
ImageDefinitely splurged and treated myself in Windsor with my friend Jess a few days ago.

ImagePink Grapefruit Body Puree | £2
Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub | £12.50
Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel | £2

all available at The Body Shop.

Big love for The Body Shop at the moment, as they just do summer scents right. I love the mix of sweet and sour that the Pink Grapefruit scent provides me, and I already own the body butter, so these guys are more to add to my collection! As it’s my birthday month, I got £5 off my purchase, and it was 3 for 2 on all products, so I got all of this for £9.50! Successful bargain!

ImageClean and Clear Blackhead Cleanser | £3.50

available at Boots and Superdrug.

I have the regular cleanser and wanted to try this out as the scent is a little less…overwhelming and I’ve been noticing tat the other cleanser doesn’t seem to have many skin benefits. Let’s see how this goes!

ImageImageTopshop Matte Lipstick in Whimsical | £8

available at Topshop.

Been looking for a cooler-toned coral for a little while so that I can work it into the autumn months without looking like I’m lusting for summer. I love it whenever I find a Topshop with makeup and had to make the difficult decision between a lipstick and a blush for a while. The lipstick won. How beautiful is that?

ImageImageYSL Glossy Stain in No.27 | from £22.50

available at YSL counters.

Eeep! I splashed out on another YSL product. I think I will only spend money on something that I can keep forever and that is worth the cash. Ever since I first ventured into the world of YSL, I’ve wanted a Glossy Stain. When I first bought my Volupte Sheer Candy, the assistant desperately tried to sell me this, even though the Sheer Candy was more money. I picked this up because it’s my ‘comfortable colour’. I’ll get a lot of use out of it and it’s JUST SO PRETTY. If anyone would like to buy me the whole line for my birthday, feel free.

So, there’s my little haul! I’m really looking forward to a lovely relaxing birthday tomorrow, and to going out with my friends for a bit tonight. Hope you’re all having a lovely day or evening!

3. Wow! The view after our family night out.
4. New Minnie Mouse cup that was £1 in Tesco!
5. Selfie time! (I had just come back to Uni, and stole my flatmate’s iPhone because she has a front facing camera!)
6. Pizza, please? (with Beth and Jess at home)
7. Oh, my love.
8. Me and my housemate for next year, Kent.
9. Campus was dead. This was a Snapchat. From a lift!
10. Sexy new shoes for work!
11. Carnage! Don’t judge me!
12. Me and a family friend at my sissy’s birthday party.

Hope you all had a wonderful April! I had a great April, I got to go home and visit my family, a break from Uni, a new job and a student loan! Currently procrastinating revising for my exam tomorrow afternoon! Wish me luck!

Would anybody be interested in seeing a birthday haul?

3 Sep

It was my eighteenth birthday this past weekend, and I just wanted to ask whether anyone would like to see a birthday haul? I’m going to my big shopping centre on Wednesday to buy some things with money I recieved, so it will be after that… 🙂
