January

10 Feb

Hi lovelies!

January passed in the blink of an eye. That’s what everyone always says, right?

I feel like January lasted approximately nine years. But I do have some faves to share with you!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance -£17

Now, I don’t think this is my Holy Grail Eyeshadow Primer. I’m not floored by it. But it’s tacky enough that my shadows stay in place, it works well with a shimmer, and my crease has never looked better with this stuff on the lid. The reason it’s a fave is because when you mix it with concealer, it becomes the perfect budge-free base. Props to Too Faced for making just a good team player product. Plus, this is the mini size that you get free with most palettes or Too Faced value sets, and it’s lasted me maybe four months so far!

Nars ‘Anita’ Audacious Lipstick – £24

Oh, Anita. This is my one and only Audacious lipstick, and let me tell you, they are worth the hype. I’ve never tried anything as rich and creamy as this. I’ve been loving dabbing this all over the lip and then working it in with my finger, like a stain. It’s also one of those rare lippies that look better the longer you wear them. The closest formula to these is probably the Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipsticks, but they’ve got a bit more slip, and slightly less staying power. It’s actually baffling how Nars managed this formula. Full colour with one swipe, you can’t go wrong picking up your signature shade. Just don’t go falling in love with the whole line, ok? At £24 a pop, you’ll be using the little money flying away emoji all day, every day.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir – £11.50 for 30ml

I have an unhealthy obsession that I’m trying to deny with this stuff. Which is why I keep getting the travel size. *breathes heavily* During my January no-buy (yes, you heard that right, and we’ll get to that later), this was the only product I considered caving for. It’s just fab. It’s so refreshing, and it pulls a look together when your face is looking a bit powdery. My problem is that I use it after primer, then foundation, then powder, and you really only need it once. Sigh. *heads to spacenk.com*

Yves Saint Laurent Face Palette Collector – Gypsy Opale – £42.50

You know, I’m imaging the scenario in the YSL product development offices.

‘Ok, UK pricing. I’m thinking around the £40 mark. What do you guys think?’

‘Oh, no no. It just must be £42.50. The 50p is the most important part. It makes it feel luxe.’

I wish that brands wouldn’t do that, especially when it comes to luxury brands. But I may just be able to forgive YSL. After not being able to get my hands on the Dior Glowing Gardens highlighting powder (I searched high and low, cried etc.), I can’t compare the two. But this is such a gorgeous finishing powder, especially for lighter skin. As someone who’s really fair, no seriously, even Becca’s Opal is too dark for me, I sometimes can struggle to find a powder that’s flattering for my skin-tone, especially as I’m really dry. This is such a great way to finish a paler face.

The 100 Season 3- E4/The CW

THE 100 IS BACK! IT’S BACK! -Me to anyone that will listen

After a stellar first two seasons, The 100 is back for S3 on The CW. It’s back in the UK on Feb 17, but my hopes are that Raven continues to be badass, Clarke and Bellamy realise they’re meant to be, and for Jaha to die. Watch the show, you’ll understand! It’s really clever, brutal, violent and actually has it’s characters go through crappy situations and come out the other side (or not, soz dead characters) having been affected by the stuff that’s happened. For example, in one episode a character jumped off of a mountain ledge. In the next two or three episodes, her face was all scratched.  Consequence and continuity! Hoorah.

Pop Culture Happy Hour – Wherever you get your podcasts

I’ve become a real podcast person, and this is by far my favourite. The PCHH team are always on hand with commentary and thoughts on the latest pop culture phenomenon, the pop culture that’s made a difference in their lives, or (throwback) a bit of German art-song. ‘Tony Awards and Shared Songs’ is downright fantastic, and ‘Empire and Public Radio Voices’ features two of my favourite voices that guest on the show. Give it a listen!

That’s it for the month. As I mentioned, I was on a no-buy for the whole of January. No beauty products for myself, whatsoever. And I’m still going! I’ve used up two foundations, a powder, a bunch of sample skincare products and a whole lipstick. An entire lipstick you guys! That’s a big deal!

Hope February is being good to you.

Have a great day/evening, wherever you are!

Feeling high end, wanting low maintenance

3 Feb

Hi lovelies!

A quick product recommendation for you today, in the form of the smoothest, hydrating and glowy products I’ve found for that ultimate low-key lip.

IMG_4287

The Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balms are pretty much balmy perfection. I had the flu recently (that’s what you get when you work with kids) and it just about floored me. My skin suffered, but these guys kept me going and my lips didn’t get dry! Hoorah!

IMG_4291

Now, don’t get me wrong, they’re a glorified lip balm. They have a sheer tint, they smell ever so slightly spearmint-y, and they are, of course, ridiculously overpriced. Buuuut, they feel great to use. If you fancy feeling fancy, then the next time you’re near a Dior counter, have a swatch and see for yourselves!

You can find Dior at most department stores, and online at feelunique.com. The Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balms retail for £24.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’ – Review + Swatches

23 Aug

Hi lovelies!

Just a quick post today on a lippie I’ve been loving lately, Tarte’s Amazonian Butter Lipstick in ‘Coral Blossom’.

IMG_3826

It’s a gorgeous, ever so slightly shimmery coral colour, that is a shine finish and is one of the most buildable lip products I’ve ever tried.

IMG_3827

You get 0.1oz of product in the full size for $17, which comes to about £12.50 once you pop the exchange rate on.

IMG_3829

IMG_3825My lips before (boriiinngg)

IMG_3828My lips after applying the lipstick.

This product looks pretty good with my slightly more tanned skin in comparison to my regular skin tone. It has a little bit of a tangerine feel to it, and so I think that paired with bronzer it looks gorge.

It lasts a good amount of time if you’re not eating, about five hours or so, but as soon as you eat it needs reapplication. The good thing is that you can just add more product instead of having to remove it all and reapply. It’s also dead minty. You can’t miss it!!!

This product is a part of the 2015 Give Me Some Lip Set, currently on Sephora’s website for $25.

That’s all for today, I hope you have a good day/evening, wherever you are!

Glow For It

25 Jun

Hello lovelies!

Summer’s now in full swing in the UK, we see a smidgen of sunshine and everyone whips their legs out and slaps on the SPF. I’ve been obsessed with the ‘lit from within’ look recently and thought I would share my favourite products for the job.

Image

Image
Estée Lauder Blush in ‘Witty Peach’ – £25 at boots.com

This blush is the perfect peach for a pop of colour. Just subtle enough that it doesn’t give you awkward sun-tan cheeks and just pigmented enough so that it leaves a beautiful tint on the apples. I like to start really far up and out on my cheeks because I have a little chubby face, but everyone is different. I’ve heard it’s best to start at least two finger widths away from your nose and that that’s a good estimation. This blush is matte, but the lighter apricot colour gives it a glowing finish.

Image
The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder – £13 at thebodyshop.co.uk

This bronzer is universally flattering. I mean it. I always think that uber-pigmented bronzers have no place on my skin. Even if I blend perfectly, I always end up looking like a muddy mess. This formula is silky smooth, easy to buff out and it’s not too OOT. Do people still say that? OOT? Oh well. Just did. This is one of the only products that i can use on my temples as well due to it not being too intense.

Image
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – £16 at feelunique.com

Well, well, well. This little baby is finally mine. I actually put this in a wish-list this time a year ago, and finally made an order on Feel Unique. Believe the hype, this champagne-hued highlight is seriously amazeballs. I tried it for the first time a week ago and have worn it every day since. A teeny-tiny bit of this goes a loooooooonnnggg way, and your skin looks so healthy after you use it. For oily-skinned gals, I would warn you to use a light hand, as I know it can be difficult to balance between luminous goddess and disco ball, but us dry-skinned ladies need all the glow we can get. Am I right ladies? (I’ve always wanted to type that, it didn’t disappoint haha)

So there we go. My little formula that results in a lotta H2Glow. Oh yeah.

I hope you are enjoying your day/evening, wherever you are!

Monthly Lust-Haves #1

23 Jun

Hello lovelies!

Thought I might start up a bit of a new thing for Bonjour Christie today….oooh the excitement!

Let’s face it, we’re all little make-up mavens in the beauty community, always hunting in Boots and Superdrug for hidden gems and offers, prancing around the high street for those hyped-up hot picks. Personally, I know I definitely don’t need everything I buy, but we all know it’s a daily struggle to resist. I thought I would put up a little wishlist and then look back and see what still intrigues me at the end of the next month. However, we all know that this plan is likely to fail. Oh well!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – £22
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder – approx £26
Mac 168 Large Angled Contour Brush – approx £25
NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams – £4-£5
Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Set – £46
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – £22
So there are my little lust-have for the month. Would love to know yours!

Have a lovely day/evening, wherever you are!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette + Swatches

21 May

Hello lovelies!

I recently made an impulsive (and very, VERY large) Space NK order, and I saw that the limited edition Ambient Lighting Palette was on pre-order! So I added it to my basket, and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to travel with this little baby over the summer 🙂

MAC Attack: Lipsticks in ‘Diva’ and ‘Coral Bliss’ + Swatches

25 Apr

Hello lovelies!

Back with a super speedy post for you today about my first two MAC lipsticks! I purchased these a little while ago when Debenhams were offering a bag of freebies and free delivery on all orders over £20. They do that quite a bit, and I cave EVERY time.

October Favourites + Swatches

10 Nov

Hello lovelies!

Today I’ve got a bunch of products to show you, plus swatches and a little bit of a daring FOTD for me. Stay tuned for that…

DSCN2288

DSCN2289

Sleek Blush By 3 Palette in ‘Lace’ – £10

I finally put this palette to use – I love the shade ‘Chantilly’, a gorgeous matte hot coral. Wow wow wow. You have to be careful with these blushes, as they’re so pigmented. This blush palette is going to last me forever. It’s great value and quality. Can’t wait to check out the other Blush By 3 palettes.

DSCN2293

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Mattifying Powder – £12
This stuff has been so so good to me (you can probably tell from the major pan that you’re seeing) – but during October it just shone as a holy grail product. Living without this just doesn’t seem plausible to me, could I possibly go on if I lost it?! Who can tell? It’s totally translucent, works on loadsa skin colours and types, and is affordable. Run to Boots. Run.

DSCN2303

BareMinerals The Next Big Thing Palette (LE) – £29

I first spotted this on Temptalia around six months ago, promptly fell in love and then discovered it was limited edition! I searched high and low for it, including on the Bare Minerals website, and than randomly stumbled across it in the Debenhams sale. I’m pretty sure it was 13.50, which is incredible for a palette of this quality, and the brand’s reputable image only helped me to snap it up. The colours are never usually what I would wear on my lids, but that coral drew me in and ever since, I’ve been falling further and further in love. The gold-y shades are beautifully pigmented, the coral is so so unique on the eyes, and the blackened plum makes a gorgeous liner. I must have used shades from this palette at least ten times during October, and for me, that’s pretty good.

DSCN2306Benefit Posietint – full size £24.50

Just a long-time fave of mine, it’s on my Christmas list and this little deluxe sample has lasted me forever. I love it on my lips the most, but it gives a gorgeous flush to the cheeks too.

DSCN2309ModelCo More Brows in Medium/Dark – £10

This is an exact dupe for Gimme Brow except that it doesn’t get all gross after a couple of uses. It distributes product nice and evenly along the brow and is inexpensive in comparison to the Benefit version. Big ole thumbs up from me!

DSCN2311Estee Lauder Double Wear Brush On Glow BB Highlighter – £23.50
I purchased this on a bit of a whim, and I’m so glad I did. Not only is it a great mutipurpose concealer/corrector/highlighter, but I’ve honestly used it since April EVERY single day (minus lazy days) and it’s still going strong. This is the never-ending product. It’s glowy, long lasting and although it’s a little pricy, I think it’s well worth it.

DSCN2314

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 01 – full size £18
The smell of this product is incredible, I just can’t get over it. I heard the hype, I listened, I put it off. Then I saw a little value set in Sephora with a mini for a minimal price. I jumped at the chance. These are so so comfortable, this colour is flattering and the line is well worth the hype.

DSCN2321DSCN2336Aaaaand that’s all of that stuff on my face. With a coral and icy gold eye. Eeeeep.

DSCN2342

So those were my October favourites. Is there anything you’ve been loving lately? Please let me know in the comments and fuel my addiction.

Have a great day/evening, wherever you are!

The Glory Trio

12 Aug

Hello lovelies!
Around Autumn time, I became more and more interested in the Soap and Glory range, and I delved into their make-up selection. More and more buzz has been developing around these products, and I just had to see for myself what it all was about.

ImageKick-Ass Concealer – £10
This concealer caught my eye because it has a salmon coloured correcting shade in it, and I can’t afford to splash out willy-nilly on Benefit’s Erase Paste. It also has a yellow colour concealer and a great setting powder which doubles brilliantly as a subtle highlight. The packaging is the only thing I have a bug-bear with. When I first opened the cute little pot up, all I saw was the powder. It took me a good five minutes to figure out how to actually get to the concealer! It’s pretty easy once you know but I was stumped. The formula of the concealer is not dissimilar to Benefit’s Boi-ing, but it’s a little more creamy.

ImageImage

One Heck Of A Blot – £12
Picked this up because Essiebutton on YouTube raved about it. As with anything she talks about, I wanted it immediately. Picked it up and I’ve got to say that so far, I’m impressed. It’s silky smooth, weightless and makes my shine go away for hours. I ❤ the packaging too. Don’t you just love Soap and Glory’s retro designs?

ImageImageGlow All Out – £11
A peachy-toned highlight in essence, but I knew once I swatched it that I could make it work as a blush also. I love multi-use products so much. It’s got the same formula as the One Heck Of A Blot, silky-smooth and light on the skin, but definitely packs a punch of light too!

Image
So that was my little stumble along the no buying make-up in August road.
Another stumble probably coming soon!

As for what’s going on with me, I’m currently sitting at my desk watching Covert Affairs, my newest TV obsession, and tidying my make-up from a bit of experimenting today. Love doing a little ‘Shop My Stash’.

Hope you are all well!

Summer Haul!

1 Aug

Image

Hello lovelies!

Hope you are having wonderful weeks! I went shopping at the weekend when my parents came to help me move, and although I told myself that I couldn’t buy anything, this inevitably happened. Onto the haul!

ImageVitamin C Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30, £12
Mango Beautifying Oil, £9
Available at The Body Shop or thebodyshop.co.uk

After the recent heatwave in the UK, I decided that I needed to be more vigilant about including SPF into my daily facial routine, and as I have quite sensitive skin, I popped into The Body Shop to take a peek at their skin range. I asked the sales assistant whether they had anything for Sensitive Skin that had SPF, and she was incredibly helpful. I meant to catch her name and didn’t, which makes me sad. As I work outside, my face needs high protection whether it’s sunny or torrential rain, and so I opted for the Vitamin C Daily Moisturiser with SPF 30. It smells fresh and a little citrusy, which I love. While I was there, I took a look at the new Beautifying Oils that The Body Shop have released, and picked up Mango after smelling all of them and thinking that Mango was the yummiest. I’ll have to see how I get on with it. I was talked into getting a Body Shop ‘Love Your Body’ card, which is valid for a year, costs £5 and you get a free gift in your birthday month as well as 10% off every purchase over £10. Your card gets stamped every time you use it, and when you reach the 4th and the 8th time, you get a free gift. I think I want to sample some more bits and bobs from The Body Shop soon, and it’s my birthday this month (eeep!) so I thought it was worth it. I’ve also just taken a peek at The Body Shop’s website, and they have some awesome deals and freebies on there at the mo, something that I am always hearing from devotees, so check it out if you are looking for some new products.

ImageAvene Eau Thermale Thermal Water Spray (50ml), £3.15
Available in selected Boots stores or at boots.com

Picked this little cutie up in Boots for two reasons. My face gets hot and I can’t justify the price of the Evian face spray. I need to introduce higher-end skincare brands into my regime if I want my skin to get better. My skin is okay at the moment, but to see anything noticeable, I need to splash the cash a little. So far I’ve been liking it, but I’m sure if I have any groundbreaking thoughts, I will review this or buy the full size!

No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser, £11.50
Available at Boots stores or at boots.com

With the summer months surprising us all so far, I decided to invest in a tinted moisturiser. I usually just mix my foundation with my current moisturiser, but I thought that the real deal might keep my skin hydrated for longer. I also bought a nail varnish for my sister, and it was buy 2 products, get a little bag of goodies free…

ImageThis is what’s left of the five little goodies. Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara, High Shine Lip Gloss in Coral Kiss and Airbrush Away Primer. There was a lilac shimmery eyeshadow and a little Tinted Moisturiser sample that was darker than my skintone, so I gave them both to my Mum. She loves her lilacs and I bought her an eyeshadow base that would go perfectly with the eyeshadow.

Finally I picked up some hair dye and a cleanser dispenser from Clearasil. I’m intrigued. If anyone is wondering, I use this AWESOME hair dye tutorial from Rachel (icallitambrosia) on Youtube. Sass with my info. Love it.

I am currently procrastinating sleeping, believe it or not. Tomorrow is the last day at work before I go home for 5 days for my cousin’s wedding! Shall I take some OOTD snaps? I have a pretty dress 🙂

Hope you have an awesome evening/day!
