Glow For It

25 Jun

Hello lovelies!

Summer’s now in full swing in the UK, we see a smidgen of sunshine and everyone whips their legs out and slaps on the SPF. I’ve been obsessed with the ‘lit from within’ look recently and thought I would share my favourite products for the job.

Image
Estée Lauder Blush in ‘Witty Peach’ – £25 at boots.com

This blush is the perfect peach for a pop of colour. Just subtle enough that it doesn’t give you awkward sun-tan cheeks and just pigmented enough so that it leaves a beautiful tint on the apples. I like to start really far up and out on my cheeks because I have a little chubby face, but everyone is different. I’ve heard it’s best to start at least two finger widths away from your nose and that that’s a good estimation. This blush is matte, but the lighter apricot colour gives it a glowing finish.

Image
The Body Shop Honey Bronzing Powder – £13 at thebodyshop.co.uk

This bronzer is universally flattering. I mean it. I always think that uber-pigmented bronzers have no place on my skin. Even if I blend perfectly, I always end up looking like a muddy mess. This formula is silky smooth, easy to buff out and it’s not too OOT. Do people still say that? OOT? Oh well. Just did. This is one of the only products that i can use on my temples as well due to it not being too intense.

Image
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – £16 at feelunique.com

Well, well, well. This little baby is finally mine. I actually put this in a wish-list this time a year ago, and finally made an order on Feel Unique. Believe the hype, this champagne-hued highlight is seriously amazeballs. I tried it for the first time a week ago and have worn it every day since. A teeny-tiny bit of this goes a loooooooonnnggg way, and your skin looks so healthy after you use it. For oily-skinned gals, I would warn you to use a light hand, as I know it can be difficult to balance between luminous goddess and disco ball, but us dry-skinned ladies need all the glow we can get. Am I right ladies? (I’ve always wanted to type that, it didn’t disappoint haha)

So there we go. My little formula that results in a lotta H2Glow. Oh yeah.

I hope you are enjoying your day/evening, wherever you are!

Monthly Lust-Haves #1

23 Jun

Hello lovelies!

Thought I might start up a bit of a new thing for Bonjour Christie today….oooh the excitement!

Let’s face it, we’re all little make-up mavens in the beauty community, always hunting in Boots and Superdrug for hidden gems and offers, prancing around the high street for those hyped-up hot picks. Personally, I know I definitely don’t need everything I buy, but we all know it’s a daily struggle to resist. I thought I would put up a little wishlist and then look back and see what still intrigues me at the end of the next month. However, we all know that this plan is likely to fail. Oh well!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette – £22
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder – approx £26
Mac 168 Large Angled Contour Brush – approx £25
NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams – £4-£5
Zoeva Rose Gold Brush Set – £46
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – £22
So there are my little lust-have for the month. Would love to know yours!

Have a lovely day/evening, wherever you are!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette + Swatches

21 May

Hello lovelies!

I recently made an impulsive (and very, VERY large) Space NK order, and I saw that the limited edition Ambient Lighting Palette was on pre-order! So I added it to my basket, and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to travel with this little baby over the summer 🙂

Sick Day Essentials

15 May

Hello lovelies!
I’m feeling pretty gross today, but decided that my piles and piles of beauty products would be able to make me feel better, or even just cheer me up a bit! So here are the skin saviours that perked me up today…
ImageVichy Thermal Spa Water – £7 for 150ml
The ultimate refreshing wake up call, Vichy’s Thermal Water is great for sensitive skin and is paraben free, so you know that you’re not being nagged by any nasties on your sick days.
Clarins HydraQuench Intensive Serum Bi-Phase – £42 for 100ml
A lifesaver for dry skin. This product smells fresh and clean, feels silky smooth and makes skin plumper, which is just what you need when your skin feels like the Sahara. I’m still using up my little sample that I got from the Clarins counter earlier in the spring. Love this product.
Smashbox PhotoFinish Hydrating Under-Eye Primer –  £21 for 0.33oz
On days when I want nothing to do with foundation, I usually stick to concealer or highlighter, as it gives me a brightened effect for the dark circles under my eyes, and this is the perfect partner in prime for smoothing the under eyes before concealer.
L’Oreal Lumi Magique Concealer – £8.49
I
‘m currently in the midst of a concealer battle. It’s Maybelline’s Lumi Touch vs. L’Oreal’s Lumi Magique….you think they’re interested in illuminating at all? A brightening concealer is the number one fool-proof tool to create the appearance of being rested. Hooray for concealer!
Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose – £2.25 for 19ml
It’s an undisputed fact that when you get poorly, your lips suffer. All the sniffing and nose blowing, your smackers end up needing some serious TLC. This stuff smells SO GOOD. I seriously can’t get enough.
Babywipes/Tissues
Runny noses are the worst right?! I always use babywipes rather than tissues because once you attack your nose with tissue number 10, you probably look like you’ve started taking makeup tips from Rudolph.

There are my sick day essentials. What are yours? I’m back to work tomorrow so I hope I feel better!
Hope you have a wonderful day/evening, wherever you are!

25 Apr

Hello lovelies!

Back with a super speedy post for you today about my first two MAC lipsticks! I purchased these a little while ago when Debenhams were offering a bag of freebies and free delivery on all orders over £20. They do that quite a bit, and I cave EVERY time.

Taking some time…

10 Apr

Hello lovelies!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks. Birthdays, MOTS, back to work, time to study…I haven’t really felt like I’ve been able to keep up. This week, I’ve made sure that I’ve taken time for myself, to take some pictures, to sort my washing out, to go food shopping, to check my budget. I’ve been feeling a bit crap, been lacking motivation for my diet and have been feeling generally a bit bleugh. However, I have found that taking a break has helped. Three days ago, I didn’t even think I could get the revision plan done. Now I feel a bit more confident that I’ll be okay. Thought I’d share my top 5 things to do when you’re feeling down or even just a bit lacklustre.

1. Catch up.
Whether this means with friends or family, with bills or paperwork, catching up with things you’ve been putting off can boost your mood straight away. I’ve been home twice in the last month, and I feel so much better when I’m surrounded with friends and family. I’ve also rung the tax office, done some washing and tidied up a bit. I feel more organised and so much better. (I saw Divergent over the weekend and was impressed. Maybe more impressed with the slushies that me and my bestie Andy got for the cinema….bad?)

2. Smile more.
Genuinely smiling and wishing people well is a wonder-worker when it comes to feeling more positive. Even if you don’t plan on doing anything more than popping to get petrol, prepping a positive attitude can change your whole outing. I recently went of a food shop and felt amazing when someone actually returned my ‘have a nice day’ (working in customer service trains you). Don’t forget, people have bad days and have to work jobs that they hate, being a good customer can make it more bearable.

3. Pamper!
Considering this is predominantly a beauty blog, this one should have been obvious. Whether it’s a long hot bath, testing out a new face mask or just shaving your legs, you often have a clearer head and more refreshed (both mentally and physically) after a soak.

4. Make yourself up. However you want.
This might not work for everyone, but I’ve found that putting on make-up and actually doing my hair nicely is such a relaxing experience for me. It always perks me up! If the mood strikes, you could also take a few selfies…see below! I think that the whole idea of ‘selfie shaming’ is ridiculous, and it’s how lots of girls end up with a lack of confidence in their looks. Bare faced, totally glam, all faces are beautiful and if you feel gorgeous then you are allowed to show that. It’s a display of confidence, own it!

Image
5. Do absolutely nothing.
Yep, you read that right. Do nothing. Chill. Lay on the sofa all day. Stay in bed with Netflix and a hot chocolate. Eat Doritos like they’re going out of style. The next day you’ll feel a. full of energy and b.motivated to actually get some stuff done.

I hope my little tips have been a little help. One more day off then back to work. Hopefully I’ll have a nails related post up for you soon!

Have a lovely (relaxed) day/evening, wherever you are…

FOTD: Day to Night

21 Mar

Hello lovelies!

I’m off out this evening for a little meal with my best uni girl, there’s a rainbow in the sky, and I’m listening to some great music! Thought I’d take my little FOTD for Uni to this evening’s more dramatic(barely lol) look.

ImageImageMuch better! I used Wet and Wild’s ‘Comfort Zone’ palette for my eyes, swiped a bit of Maybelline Brow Mascara through…you guessed it…my brows, contoured with Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer and used Sleek’s Pout Polish in ‘Bare Minimum for my lippies. Transformed! I also put a bit of curl through my hair (which is oddly behaving itself today) and I’ve switched out my green PJ top for a lime green chiffon one. #trendy 😉 Just kidding, no-one would ever use that word to describe me haha!

Have a wonderful rest of your day/evening, wherever you are!

I’m Having A Mascara Moment: YSL’s ‘Babydoll’

4 Mar

Hello lovelies!

It’s time for the second installment of the series called ‘I’m Having A Mascara Moment’, which is a mini review and demo on different mascaras that I own! The average girl might own three or four mascaras, and use one pretty regularly. Hopefully, by the end of the series I will have reviewed enough mascaras for you to make up your mind which one is the best. I might even rank them!

Each mascara is judged on five basic points.
Packaging, Lasting Power, Wand and Formula and Price.
The final mark will be out of 50, as each mascara can score up to 10 points per category.

What’s the story in Balamory today? (only my UK lovelies will get this!)

YSL’s ‘Babydoll’ Mascara

Packaging: 8/10

ImageOkay, so I could be cheating a bit here by not owning the full-size…but this mini is super cute. The full-sized product has the majestic packaging that you would expect from YSL, glossy gold tube, beautiful cursive font etc. but this baby is pretty fancy too!

Lasting power: 8/10
This baby stays on in my SLEEP. (Don’t judge me for accidentally falling asleep fully made up!) It’s not moving unless you take it off with eye makeup remover. Trust me.

Wand: 10/10
Image

Do you ever come across a product and think ‘this is what I’ve been looking for my whole life.’ This wand is my ultimate mascara wand. It looks pretty standard, but you’d be surprised how many mascaras I’ve tried that have had bristles that are too long, not long enough (Maybelline’s ‘The Rocket’, I’m looking at you) or not plastic, which is my number one requirement in a wand. Snaps for Babydoll.

Formula: 8/10
The formula is pretty solid. Not too wet, which is a big plus. Can clump a little the more coats you put on, but I noticed that it dries quite quickly, so clumps are avoidable.

Price: 4/10
The price of this makes me want to cry. £24.50? *distant sobbing and wallet quivering in anticipation*

Before/After

Image

*shameless selfie alert*

Image

Pyjama day anyone? 🙂
Image

Final Verdict: 38/50

So so impressed. Please let this sample last forever so that I don’t have to shell out that much money for a mascara…. 😦

I hope you all are having great days/evenings, wherever you are!
